Abstract The Inland ENC Product Specification specifies the content, structure, data encoding and metadata required for compiling IENC data. The Product Specification will also include the portrayal requirements for use within an Inland ECDIS or ECS. The S-401 Product Specification will supersede the S-57 based Inland ENC Product Specification.

Remarks S-401 Edition 1.0.0 is released for implementation and testing purposes only. S-401 Annex A (Data Classification and Encoding Guide); and the S-401 Feature and Portrayal Catalogues are still in development, and will be posted in due course.
